ESL Breakfast Club Thanksgiving Celebration 2014

To mark the end of a 10-week round of tutoring in the ESL Breakfast Club, every student offered thanks (in English!) on November 11, in front of an audience of tutors, students, guests and families. Tears flowed freely as students opened their hearts and acknowledged family, friends, tutors, and God. After receiving an ESL Breakfast Club chef’s hat, Esther Crawford, aided by her capable sous-chef Jim, served a home-cooked Thanksgiving meal to over 80 people in the great hall at the Neighborhood Church, 507 Pacific Avenue. All sang a hymn of Thanksgiving, and Pastor Jackeline Vives offered a benediction of heartfelt thanks to the tutors who serve with unbounded grace. Classes resume January 27, 2015.

Isabella gave thanks to her son, Carlos, who is battling cancer. Carlos was present to hear his mother speak in English.
