Pastor Letter

Advent greetings in the name of Christ!

On the heels of our Thanksgiving holiday, this morning begins our season of Advent in the church. This is a special time when we enter a period of waiting, a special time of preparing for the coming of Christ.

And yet, as we do this together, we have a special opportunity to continue our practice of thanksgiving. Our Bishop Minerva G. Carcaño has invited all of us to join her at the Interfaith Service of Thanksgiving 2015 of the Los Angeles Council of Religious Leaders.

What an opportunity this service offers us. It will be a wonderful way to continue our Thanksgiving practices of gratitude with our brothers and sisters across faith traditions -- just as we enter Advent, too.

DETAILS (TODAY):

November 29, 2015 at 4:00PM
Episcopal Cathedral Center
840 Echo Park Avenue
Los Angeles, CA

The theme of the service will be “Gratitude,” as expressed in our several faith traditions and a reception will follow. Brothers and sisters of many religions will celebrate side-by-side.

Pastor Mark and I will both be attending. Please see one of us if you would like to carpool.

I do anticipate a meaningful Advent season for our church, and I look forward to waiting with you, alongside you, walking with you toward the birth of Christ.

And, I am deeply grateful for your powerful witness to the ways of Jesus all year long as I see your service in his name, your prayers, your gifts, your caring, and your powerful love of God expressed in countless ways as the Los Altos United Methodist Church.

Your sister in Christ,

Pastor Melinda
