We have entered a season of gratitude. Last Sunday we celebrated the witness of faithful servants (saints) who have preceded us and faithful servants who accompany us on the journey now. This coming Sunday we will present our commitment cards to support our ministry and witness in the year ahead as an expression of gratitude for all with which we have been blessed. On the 16th, we will host an alternative Christmas Fair" which provides an opportunity to shape our Christmas "presenting" with compassion. This practice allows the spirit of Christ's
love to flow through our giving.
On Sunday November 23 we will celebrate the 60th Anniversary of Los Altos United Methodist Church. In many ways, through our stewardship campaign, we have lifted up the incredible legacy we have received from the dedicated disciples of the past. We receive with gratitude the facilities that have hosted ministry over several generations. We have expressed our appreciation for the spirit of compassion, dedication to mission and joy of worship which have been passed along to us.
I can think of no better way to honor the first 60 years of ministry at LAUMC, than to begin the next 60 years by caring for the facilities entrusted to us and extending the witness of the church in our community. This is indeed a Thanksgiving service. In response for all that God has entrusted, we will be offering our "first fruits" to God's work in the world. For those participating in the three year capital campaign, a first fruits offering will be received toward your campaign pledge. For all of us, our offerings continue to sustain the vital ministries of LAUMC that we offer as thanks.
I look forward to giving thanks with you in this season.
